Over a week ago we lost the air conditioner in the back of the restaurant. That same afternoon the compressors for the air conditioner in the front dining both blew out. It was about 85°F so while everyone was uncomfortable, it was manageable. This week and this memorial day weekend however, were not pleasant. Temperatures have held steady all week long in the upper 90′s making the kitchen a swealtering 100°+ and the dining rooms average in the mid to upper 80′s.
Add the no shows and quiters amongst the crew and the last couple weeks have been very challenging. I am at the point where I dread going into work. When I pull into the parking lot, I shut off my engine and sit there thinking, “what has happened today that’s going to make me work harder and longer than I should have to?”
now mind, i’m not trying to say that as a manager I shouldn’t have to work or that I should have a nice, easy, short work-day every single day I go in…. But this got ridiculus a week ago.
Just talked to one of the other cooks who was in eating dinner and he said that one of the other day shift cookds is planning on quitting. And I think I know who it is.

Something like that should be fixed, fast, I would think. How can you expect customers to want to eat in such heat? And work there? I’d think not! Hope that whoever is in charge gets it taken care of ASAP.
